Balochistan University (UOB)

About University:

University of Balochsitan is located in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. The government of Balochistan chartered the university in 1971. It has more than 6,000 students and one campus, 35 different fields of studies and 5 faculties.

Location:

The university has its main campus at Quetta, Balochistan. Total area of main campus is 180 Acres and also has 10 acres of farm land for Botanical Garden. 

Quetta is the largest city and the provincial capital of the Balochistan. It is known as the "Fruit Garden of Pakistan", due to the diversity of its plant and animal wildlife. Situated at an average elevation of 1,654 metres (5,429 feet) above sea level. Quetta Airport is the second highest airport in Pakistan. The city is also home to the Hazarganji Chiltan National Park, which contains some of the rarest species of wildlife in the world and to a research institute, the Geological Survey of Pakistan

Faculties:

University consists of the following faculties:

• Faculty of Physical Sciences

• Faculty of Biological and Chemical Sciences

• Faculty of Social Sciences

• Faculty of State Sciences

• Faculty of Languages

Apart from the above faculties, University has following centres: Centre of Excellence in Mineralogy, Pakistan Study Centre, Area Study Centre, and Balochistan Study Centre.

Facilities and Resources:

Library:
Well established seminar library consisting of 2500 books, covering the all subjects and related material taught in the department.

Counselling: 
Student counseling facility to explore the hidden potential of the students and guiding them towards their field of interests within the department.

Research:
Research facility for students and the NGOs/various organizations working nationally or internationally for the exploration of Brahui heritage.

Other Facilities:
University has on campus Bank, Post office, community centre and dispensary.
