Bahauddin Zakariya University, formely known as Multan University, was established in 1975. Presently University has 20 departments, 79 affiliated colleges, 4 constituent colleges, and more than 8,000 students.
Location:
The University is located at a distance of 10 km from the Multan City Centre. The University's main Campus is spread over 960 acres of land. The other campuses of University are located in the cities of D.G. Khan, Sahiwal and Layyah.
Multan is located in the southern part of the Punjab province. It is situated on the east bank of the Chenab River, more or less in the geographic centre of the country and about 562 km from Islamabad, 356 km from Lahore and 966 km from Karachi. Multan is known as 'City of Saints' attracting sufis/saints from around the globe. The N-5 National Highway connects the city to connect to all parts of Pakistan. GT road allows connections to Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Karachi, Lahore as well as Bahawalpur
